Gaur Law Offices carries a name that has been on the rolls of the Indian Bar since the 1950s. What has been handed down is not a client list. It is a way of conducting a matter.

The practice is built around commercial disputes, the litigation, arbitration and enforcement work that follows when a commercial relationship stops working, and around the advisory work that determines how those disputes will be fought before they begin.
The firm appears before the Supreme Court of India, the High Court of Delhi and other High Courts, the National Company Law Tribunal and Appellate Tribunal, the Debt Recovery Tribunals and Appellate Tribunal, the Central Administrative Tribunal, the National and State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions, and arbitral tribunals across India.
It is deliberately small. Matters are taken on the basis that a partner will conduct them personally, and the firm declines work it cannot conduct that way.

Sh. Uma Dutt Gour
Senior Advocate · Advocate General, Haryana, 1979 to 1981
Born on 1 January 1924 in village Kosli, then in District Rohtak, he took his schooling in Haryana before moving to Delhi for his graduation at St. Stephen's College and his law degree at the University of Delhi. He entered government service as Deputy Secretary in the Central Secretariat, New Delhi, and left it within six months. The practice of law had a stronger claim on him.
He returned to Rohtak and built a substantial criminal practice there. In 1957 he contested the election to the legislative assembly from the Hassangarh segment, and remained active in public service throughout his life. In 1962 he shifted his practice to the Punjab and Haryana High Court at Chandigarh, where he also served as a part-time Professor in the Department of Laws, Panjab University.
He was designated a Senior Advocate, and in 1979 was appointed Advocate General, Haryana, an office he held until 12 November 1981. As a member of the Board specially constituted by the High Court, he took part in the selection of thirty-four subordinate judges and a number of District Attorneys. The record of the office he once held describes him as a man of conviction who never compromised on his principles, and as a benchmark in the High Court for principle, honesty and integrity.
He passed away on 2 September 2006. The firm carries his name.

Sh. Anil Dutt Gaur

Sh. Anil Dutt Gaur served in the Haryana judicial service, rising to the office of Additional Sessions Judge. He resigned from the Bench to return to practice, and has since appeared before the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the Supreme Court of India.
Time spent on the other side of the Bench is a working knowledge of how a case is read, where a pleading loses a judge, and which arguments consume the court's patience without earning anything. That perspective informs how matters are prepared at this office.
He is a partner in the firm and its senior consulting presence.

Karan Gaur is the partner responsible for the firm's disputes practice. He appears and files in original, appellate and writ jurisdictions before courts and tribunals across India, and advises institutional and corporate clients on day-to-day legal risk, contract strategy and dispute management.
His disputes work centres on commercial relationships under strain: supply and performance failures, quality rejections, delayed deliveries, liquidated damages, termination and blacklisting, including urgent interim relief and arbitration-linked litigation before High Courts. He appears before arbitral tribunals, the National Company Law Tribunal, the Central Administrative Tribunal, the National and State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions, and the Debt Recovery Appellate Tribunals. He drafts, settles and files writ petitions, special leave petitions, civil suits and tribunal claims.
His advisory practice covers commercial documentation for corporate houses across sectors, including master service and supply arrangements, vendor and procurement contracts, non-disclosure agreements, term sheets, settlement terms, indemnities, guarantees and dispute-resolution mechanisms, drafted with enforceability and litigation-readiness as the governing test. He also advises on FEMA and foreign investment, and appears in matters under the Prevention of Money-Laundering Act, 2002.

Shreeyanshu Bhatnagar
Junior Associate
Shreeyanshu Bhatnagar is an enrolled advocate whose practice covers litigation before trial courts and appellate forums, with a focus on payment recovery, cheque dishonour proceedings under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, and settlement negotiation.
